Christmas Parade Rules Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. 1. Registration will open at 5:00 P.M. Parade route numbers will be given at the registration desk which will be located at West Seaford Elementary School parking lot. The number assigned to your entry must be displayed on the right side of the unit, so the judges and announcers can identify the entry correctly. 2. There will only be one live Santa Claus and he will be sanctioned by the Parade Committee. 3. All entries must be clean and be decorated in accordance with the theme of the parade. Entries not decorated will not be allowed to participate in the parade. The Parade Committee reserves the right to make a final judgment if the entry does not display a holiday atmosphere. 4, Music is limited to Christmas carols. We welcome school bands, choirs, Christmas carolers. If radio music is played, amplified so spectators can hear, only the officially designated station -107.1 FM – may be played 5. Line-up will begin at 5:30 P.M. and parade will step-off at 7:00 P.M. 6. The parade will begin at Pennsylvania Avenue and Nylon Boulevard, proceed on High Street, turning left on Market Street. It will continue on Market Street to Stein Highway, near Seaford Middle School. Entries will be directed to parking areas designed for specific groups such as antique cars, floats, marching units, etc. 7. The parade participants must abide by the ordinances, laws and regulations of the City of Seaford. 8. Consumption of alcoholic beverages/drugs by anyone is prohibited by law. 9. Distribution of any form of literature, soliciting or canvassing for funds are prohibited. The only kind of item that be distributed is candy or treats. 10. NOTHING MAY BE THROWN FROM MOVING ENTRIES BY ORDER OF THE SEAFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT. Candy, treats, etc., may only be distributed by someone walking with the entry and staying close to the curb. 11. Each equestrian unit must provide its own “scoopers” and must use them. Units without scoopers will not be allowed to participate. 12. All vendors must have prior authorization by the Parade Committee. The vendor application can be obtained by calling Frank Raskauskas at (302) 628-2828 or Sharon Drugash at (302) 629-9173 week days. 13. All participating units must be registered with the Parade Committee. All entries must be received no later than November 30, 2011. 14. In case of inclement weather, the following numbers will have recorded messages regarding the parade - 629-9173. Local radio stations will also be advised if cancellation is necessary. The rain date is Sunday, December 4th, with line-up at 5:30 P.M. and step-off at 7:00 P.M. 15. Excessive noise will not be permitted. Violators may be asked to withdraw from the parade at any point. 16. Reckless driving is expressly prohibited by order of Seaford Police Department. Spinning of tires and other exhibitions will result in arrest of the driver. If violator is part of a group, the entire group is disqualified. 17. All units must continue to move along the parade route. Bands may stop in front of Judges stand for up to 3 minutes. 18. Traffic control personnel, authorized by the Seaford Police Department, will be visible along the parade route and must be obeyed. 19. Judging will be done in the line-up area and along the parade route. Judges’ Stand located in Mt. Olivet parking lot. 20. Commercial entries will be limited to one (1) free entry - additional entries will be charged $10.00 each. 21. Those who do not comply with these rules can be disqualified and/or removed from the parade. |
